With a totally unutilized engineering degree up her sleeve, Neha worked for 9 years in companies like HCL Technologies, Nokia Solution Networks and Adobe before starting Planet Abled. As a child she never went for a holiday, born as she was to parents with disabilities; and as a grown up when she did start travelling, she promptly understood why - people with disabilities faced multiple challenges both infrastructural, and societal. The travel ecosystem was simply not accessible, or sensitive, to the needs of travellers with disabilities.
Her 37 years of experience of knowing her parents' needs (her father is blind and mother is a wheelchair user) gives her a unique perspective into the needs of people with disabilities, as she creates a Planet Abled. Through its inclusive travel platform, Planet Abled is bringing a paradigm shift in the tourism industry by giving ‘everyone’ the freedom to travel wherever they want, whenever they want, with whomever they want, irrespective of disability, impairment, age or medical condition. Planet Abled is the recipient of the National Award in Tourism by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Travel + Leisure Global Vision Award, Best Innovative Practice Award by Zero Project at United Nations Vienna and WTM London Responsible Tourism Award (India).
Neha is a Global Good Fund Fellow and sits on the Advisory board of Travel Unity, a non-profit based out of the USA, which promotes diversity and inclusion in the travel industry. She is a keynote speaker at global platforms like ITB Berlin, Global Sustainable Tourism Council, TiECON, Zero Project, TEDx, Women Economic Forum, etc.
