Carla Campos is an accomplished travel & tourism leader with over 13 years of experience in sustainable destination management and marketing.
In 2017, Carla returned to her homeland of Puerto Rico and was called to serve as the Tourism Minister for the island destination. Through her purpose-driven leadership, unparalleled vision and stewardship, Carla was able to steer Puerto Rico on a path to record-breaking growth despite being faced with unprecedented challenges like the Zika epidemic, declaration of state government bankruptcy, Hurricanes Irma & María, political and social unrest, earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before serving as Puerto Rico’s top tourism leader, Carla worked as an advisor for governments, DMOs, international development agencies, and businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean to advance sustainable tourism development.
At the international level, Carla is a strong supporter of women’s leadership in the travel industry and is actively engaged in Women Leading Travel & Hospitality, Women Travel Leaders and Women in Travel and Tourism International (WITTI). As a testament to her leadership in the industry, Carla was recently recognized by WITTI as an “Outstanding Woman in Destination Management & Marketing”.
